California is blessed with an extensive array of plant choices. Drought conditions have made us all sensitive to the water needs of plants, but you might be surprised at what can be grown in a water-wise garden. At Jeni Webber + Associates, we love lots of texture and color, so we are always researching plants, talking with local nurseries about new introductions and testing plants in the garden to see which thrive under our conditions.
We also apply a host of water-conservation and water-harvesting strategies (such as hydro-zoning plants by water needs) in each garden so that we can make use of what rain does fall rather than watching it run into storm drains. We also amend the soil and mulch annually so that it suits the needs of the plants and retains water and nutrients.
